Setboard opens your Serato or Rekordbox library and grades every transition in your set by key, tempo, energy and room to blend, then orders a crate into the energy arc you want. It runs in your browser and nothing uploads.

Every key gets a number from 1 to 12 and a letter: A for minor, B for major. Going round the wheel is going round the circle of fifths, so keys next to each other share six of their seven notes.
- · Same key (8A to 8A): always safe.
- · One step either way (8A to 9A or 7A): blends well, the classic harmonic mix.
- · Relative major or minor (8A to 8B): same notes, a change of mood.
- · Two steps up (8A to 10A): an energy boost. Fewer shared notes, so keep the blend short.
- · Diagonal (8A to 9B): usable with care, over drums rather than melodies.
- · Anything further away is likely to clash. Cut, or mix over a break.

Questions
What is the Camelot wheel?
A way of writing musical keys as a number from 1 to 12 and a letter: A for minor, B for major. Keys next to each other on the wheel share most of their notes, so tracks in neighbouring keys mix without clashing. 8A is A minor, 8B is C major.
Which keys mix with 8A?
8A (A minor) mixes with 8A itself, 9A and 7A next to it, 8B (C major, its relative major), and with care 10A and 6A (two steps, an energy lift) and the diagonals 9B and 7B.
What is an energy boost in harmonic mixing?
Moving two steps up the wheel in the same letter, for example 8A to 10A. The keys share fewer notes, so it is a deliberate lift rather than a seamless blend; it works best over a short mix or a drum break.
How do I convert a musical key to Camelot?
Type it into the box above: Am, F#m, C major, Bb and OpenKey notation such as 1m all work. The table lists every key with its Camelot code.
Does Setboard use the same rules?
Yes. This page uses the same key scores Setboard uses to grade each transition in a set green, amber or red, together with the tempo gap, the energy step and room to blend.
Need tempo too? The BPM and pitch calculator says how far to move the pitch fader to match two tracks.
